Taiwan industry acceptance of affordable, low-power consumption ZigBee boosts its emergence as the leading open wireless standard for Smart Home applications

Market Analysts at International Data Corp. (IDC) estimate the annual global Smart Home market will grow to reach US$51.77 billion dollars by 2020. That market represents a significant business opportunity for Taiwan, and in particular for the island’s chipmakers. Taiwan accounts for 21% of global semiconductor production, according to research from SEMI. Many Taiwan consumer product manufacturers and OEMs are also making strategic investments in the Smart Home market.


ZigBee is an open, global wireless standard that combines ultra-low power, affordable total bill of materials, and superior range and reliability for Smart Home and IoT applications.
